  2. Version 1.2.0

    This extension uses the MediaWiki API and AuthManager framework to direct login requests with no local account to a remote wiki. The account and its preferences are imported, so the remote login only has be done once. This extension is useful for moving a community from another wiki when you do not have access to the user account database. From a user perspective, it's like they already had an account on the local wiki. For more details, see the documentation page on mediawiki.org. We recommend that you "Follow" this file after downloading by clicking the Follow button above the Download button. This will allow you to be notified when new versions are published.

  3. I want to create a similar wiki page as -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Geography with my own contents in my wiki site(vanipedia.org). Can someone please help, what templates, codes and portals I need to create a similar page. Please help

  5. Thank you for your answers. It needs a function of bulletin board (text + comments) rather than a format of a forum. Although we tried the format of the forum, the format of the bulletin board was more effective than the format of the forum.
  6. The WikiForum extension seems like it does most of what the extension you linked did.
  7. You can certainly try. It should work, but there is of course no guarantee, Just make sure that you have a full backup of all files and your database. If it fails, let us know and we can try to help.
  8. Hi folks, I had a media wiki set up for me a while back and have been merrily using it ever since. I'd like to load some extensions on it, but have never upgraded it since the initial install. It looks like I am on version 1.15.1; can I safely upgrade directly to the latest version, or do I need to go through some interim versions first? Thanks!
  9. @spiros Not sure if you're still looking for this, but the following should get you close to the formatting in your OP: ul.mw-search-results { max-width: unset; } ul.mw-search-results li { display: flex; flex-flow: row wrap; border: 0.1rem solid black; justify-content: stretch; padding-bottom: 0; margin-bottom: 0.2rem; align-content: stretch; } .mw-search-result-heading { flex: 1 0 10rem; padding: 0.2rem; /* Sets the left-column blocks' VERTICAL alignment within the row */ align-self: center; } .searchresult { flex: 1 1 20rem; padding: 0.2rem; border-left: 1px solid black; } .mw-search-result-data { display: none; } If you'd prefer something more like your last imgur link, you'd want to... change border: to border-bottom: in the second block remove align-self: center; from .mw-search-result-heading remove border-left from .searchresult The balance between the two columns can be tweaked by editing the two flex: properties. See this guide for a good one-page overview of flexbox. As configured, the left column will always be at least 10rem wide but can expand if there's additional space, while the right column is initially 20rem wide and will grow or shrink as needed (growing in equal proportion to the left column). If the available width is less than their combined 30rem (like on many mobile devices), the two columns will automatically shift to stack one above the other (no media queries required!) To disable the stacking so they'll keep shrinking side-by-side instead, you'd change the second block's flex-flow from row wrap to row nowrap.
  10. I have almost solved this problem with abusefilter and periodic monitoring. Thank you for your reply.
  11. I felt that I needed a variety of functions while running Wiki. So we've added a lot of different functions, and the one that hasn't been successful is the bulletin board. We looked for the function of bulletin board extension, but only the development was stopped or the latest update was more than a few years old.(e.g. https://m.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:MediaWiki_Bulletin_Board) There was a wiki forum extension, but what I think is not a forum format, but a bulletin board format that allows you to post comments. I want the form of a forum(https://zetawiki.com/forum) in zetawiki. What should I do? If you don't log in to the wiki, you should have the ability to prevent it from being created.
  12. Moderation: Moved thread to MediaWiki Support forum. If you believe this thread was moved in error, please provide more details by editing the OP or making a reply. For troubleshooting 500 errors, see the How to debug manual on mediawiki.org. If you can't figure it out but can get exact error messages (from error logs or such), posting those here would allow for additional assistance.
  13. Error 500 When logging into website or visiting website, Cant access it to fix it. Sam
  14. HSRobinson Thanks for your recommend. My wiki's goal is to allow everyone to participate. Allowing only e-mail-certified users to participate, as your advice, can dramatically prevent vandalism, but it doesn't meet the goals of my site. This is my idea, and the Vandalism user seems to be turning the macro program, except for the Recapcha subune. I use AbuseFilter extension(https://m.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:AbuseFilter), That is working(Not 100%, but 7~80% working(I think)). But AbuseFilter granmer is so hard. Is there no other way (effective) than AbuseFilter Extension? Thanks for write your idea for me.
  15. Why useless? Because it appears that this is a real person? If so, how about only allowing edits by approved user accounts? Then you can approve/disapprove/disable whatever users you want.
  16. Your questions are the same essentially -- you want to customize the sidebar based on the page. See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Interface/Sidebar/Hacks for how to "Show a different sidebar for anonymous users" and you can then extend that concept to show a unique sidebar for different category pages. You would need coding skills for this task.
  17. I am wanting to do a few things. 1.Is it possible to have a plain style login page? Something with very little sidebar links. I am aiming for a private wiki where I don't want to have links to what is going on in the login page. 2. Can you have a customized sidebar per category with a category landing page? For example, I have a "Sites" category. I want a sidebar with links that shows up under the site categroy only. Then if I have a "servers" category I have a customized sidebar for the servers category. Any pointers?
  18. Thank you so much. That gave me: Line 234 is where the snippet provided starts ($dbw - >insert...): function Lookup_addLookup ($url, $name, $group) { $dbw = wfGetDB(DB_MASTER); $dbw->insert( 'lookups', [ 'lu_name' => $name, 'lu_url' => $url, 'lu_group' => $group, 'lu_order' => 1, 'lu_group_order' => $groupOrder ] ); Lookup_reOrderGroups(); return true; }
  19. It'd look like $dbw->insert( 'lookups', [ 'lu_name' => $name, 'lu_url' => $url, 'lu_group' => $group, 'lu_order' => 1, 'lu_group_order' => $groupOrder ] );
  20. Right, thanks to both of you. How should that snippet be edited so that it is compatible with the most recent php versions? Pardon my ignorance.
  21. Never use the raw query() function, use the insert() wrapper instead which properly escapes everything, handles db prefixes, etc. for you. (or the select() wrapper for SELECT queries, or the update() wrapper for UPDATE queries, etc.)
  22. See http://php.net/manual/en/mysqli.real-escape-string.php You must add the mysqli_connect link object.
  23. I tried to Enter something in a legacy Extension and I got: Warning: mysql_real_escape_string(): Access denied for user ''@'localhost' (using password: NO) Then I changed all instances to mysqli_real_escape_string And retried. At that point I got: mysqli_real_escape_string() expects exactly 2 parameters, 1 given on line 235 Here is the function: function Lookup_addLookup ($url, $name, $group) { $dbw = wfGetDB(DB_MASTER); $groupOrder = Lookup_getGroupOrder($group); $dbw->query ("INSERT INTO ".Lookup_prefix()."lookups (lu_name, lu_url, lu_group, lu_order, lu_group_order) VALUES ('".mysqli_real_escape_string($name)."', '".mysqli_real_escape_string($url)."', '".mysqli_real_escape_string($group)."', 1, $groupOrder)"); Lookup_reOrderGroups(); return true; }
  24. Thank you! I added that in Common.css and the output I get is the attached. Instead of the desired which is like https://imgur.com/bGrtm1H
  25. .mw-search-result-data { display: none; } .mw-search-result { display: flex; flex-direction: row; box-sizing: border-box; } .mw-search-result-heading { border: 1px solid black; padding: 0.5rem; width: 25%; } .searchresult { border: 1px solid black; padding: 0.5rem; width: 75%; } You may find the above to be useful as a starting point. This is still missing a couple of things, such as sizing on mobile screens (you'll need to add some @media queries to break on screen size and provide relevant CSS for smaller devices -- the flexbox layout will let you easily collapse it back into multiple rows with the heading on one row and the result underneath rather than side-by-side)
  26. Currently the snippet is like this (MW 1.31) compos com-pŏs: (conp-), pŏtis, adj. potis, I having the mastery, control, or power over a thing, master of, partaking of, possessing, participating or sharing 6 KB (891 words) - 12:19, 15 August 2017 How could it be changed in a two column table format (applying a style to the list items) and get rid of the date/size info line? compos com-pŏs: (conp-), pŏtis, adj. potis, I having the mastery, control, or power over a thing, master of, partaking of, possessing, participating or sharing I have tried some css changes, got rid of the unwanted metadata bit (size/date), but when page is resized, some text from the right "column" moves to the left one. .mw-search-results li { columns: 2; border-bottom: 1px dotted #555; padding: 5px 0; } .mw-search-result-data { display: none; } .mw-search-results { /* max-width: 38em; */ } Above, quoted only the part of the css I edited. For example this is what I want to be maintained in different screen sizes: https://imgur.com/bGrtm1H but when it gets smaller; this is what I get now with some screen sizes/changes of zoom https://imgur.com/YQAzMNH
