No connection to the database during update

MediaWiki 1.42.1, update database via browser.

Hi, I get an error message from which I can see that the database cannot be found:

Error 1044: Access denied for user 'u12345'@'%' to database 'virtual'
  Function: Wikimedia\Rdbms\DatabaseMySQL::doSelectDomain
  Query: USE `virtual`

The name of the database is db12345 (example) not 'virtual'. The name is correctly entered in the file LocalSettings.php

Why doesn't it work??
